The rest of July is awesome for Game Pass with huge titles including Grounded 2 set to arrive – here’s what’s coming your way

    Grounded 2

If you are a Game Pass subscriber, you’d better start clearing your calendars and storage space for the next few weeks, as Microsoft has dropped a list of games that you are not going to have time to play, all of which are arriving before the end of the month.

As ever, some are going to get your attention more than most, and we will give you the full list in a moment, but first let’s cherry-pick some of what has caught our eye.

    Grounded 2

Grounded was a really great game. Its setting, writing, and gameplay all appealed deeply to gamers like us who grew up watching movies where kids got shrunk and put into mild peril. Movies such as Inner Space and Big were staples of our entertainment, and Grounded took us back to a time when that all seemed possible.

Grounded also became a little infamous for being one of the first games to cross the Xbox exclusive divide and enter the enemy camps of Nintendo and PlayStation.

Grounded 2‘s Day One release will follow a similar path, being available only on Xbox and PC at launch.

It’s going to be very cool, and we can’t wait to play this one.

    RoboCop: Rogue City

Not new by any means, and with standalone DLC on the horizon as well, RoboCop: Rogue City caught everybody by surprise by being great, and also doing a fantastic job of recreating one of our favorite 80s movies. With appearances by original actors and a game that didn’t fall into the trap of just making another twitch shooter, RRC was really fun, and finding a new audience on Game Pass is its deserved reward.

    Farming Simulator 25

Giants Software can do little wrong when it comes to Farming Simulator. Its audience is nailed on, and the size of it is mindblowing. Now, after healthy sales, it is obviously deemed the right time to spread the word further, so get your crops sown before the winter sets in and relax to the sounds of your combine harvester.

Games coming to Game Pass in July’s Wave 2

Outside of those three, we have the return of the excellent High on Life, which was a Day One game back in the day before leaving the service. That’s back from today, and we also have new Souls-like, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, which looks beautiful but challenging.

Here’s the full list of what to expect between now and the end of the month.

  • GTA Online update hints that a long-requested feature may arrive before GTA 6

GTA Online update hints that a long-requested feature may arrive before GTA 6

Sure, GTA 5 and GTA Online have been with us for years now, with dozens of big updates adding new features and content to the Los Santos sandbox. However, there are still some highly-requested things that Rockstar hasn’t got around to implementing. One such feature is mansions – while lavish penthouse apartments are all well and good, players have long wanted massive, decadent homes to symbolize the millions (or sometimes billions) of dollars they’ve accrued over the years. Well, today’s latest major update to GTA Online may be teasing the addition of mansions, hopefully just in the nick of time before GTA 6 arrives.

It’s been going strong for well over a decade, but GTA Online’s days appear to be numbered. While Rockstar hasn’t outlined its plans for its multiplayer experience once the GTA 6 release date arrives, it feels highly likely that a new and improved version of GTA Online, set in the new location of Leonida, will be rolled out. This means that, including today’s latest major update to the GTA 5 version, there’s maybe just a couple of big content drops in Online left before GTA 6 hits.

The new Money Fronts update delivers plenty. There’s a money laundering system that gives you access to more businesses: a car wash, the Smoke on the Water cannabis store, and Higgins Helitours. Consider your business empire expanded. Local money laundering kingpin Mr Faber also has some fresh missions for you to complete, and there are several new vehicles to add to your collection.

It’s a solid update, but what’s even more exciting is a potential teaser that’s been datamined from its code.

As was initially uncovered by ‘floorball’ and shared by the likes of notable GTA news account ‘Tez2,’ the update hints that future Mr Faber missions will involve helping a “client with their luxury property development.” Elsewhere, code for a notification message has been found that reads: “You have earned an exclusive discount on a future property purchase with Prix Luxury Real Estate. They will be in contact again soon when properties become available.”

While this is nowhere near absolute confirmation that mansions will be coming to GTA Online soon, it is highly suggestive that they will be. At the very least, it appears some form of new, high-end residential property will be purchasable after helping out Mr Faber’s client. After years of apartments, it would be nice for this to be a totally new kind of residence, and a mansion would certainly fit both the “luxury” description and the shady business mogul fantasy of GTA Online.

From what I’m seeing online, these luxury property missions aren’t among the Mr Faber missions that are currently live. So, that means that they’ll either arrive at some point over the next few months, or could be added (along with the properties themselves) in GTA Online’s December major update. GTA Online updates are on a six-month cycle, so this would (barring any more delays) potentially be the last big content drop for GTA 5 Online before GTA 6 arrives in May next year. It would certainly be a way to finish with a flourish, as players have been requesting this for a very long time.

Another theory is that this could be teasing a feature in GTA 6 Online itself. Completing Mr Faber’s missions in GTA 5 could then get you a discount for a mansion in GTA 6. Given that a mansion featured as your base of operations in GTA Vice City’s story, and GTA 6 will of course be returning to that iconic location, it’s not outside the realm of possibility.

As mentioned, none of this is officially confirmed just yet, and even though it’s been datamined from GTA 5, we shouldn’t jump to definite conclusions.

  • Undertale spinoff Deltarune soars on Steam as Chapters 3 and 4 finally arrive

Undertale spinoff Deltarune soars on Steam as Chapters 3 and 4 finally arrive

One of the most surprising, out-of-nowhere indie hits of the 2010s was undoubtedly Undertale, but its episodic spinoff, Deltarune, is just as highly regarded and beloved. Developer Toby Fox already released the first two episodes of Deltarune in 2018 and 2021, but the wait for Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 has been a long one. Now though, they’re both here as part of the complete and ‘final’ version Deltarune. While it was always going to be a momentous occasion for the pixel art RPG, I’m completely blown away by just how high it’s flying on Steam right now, rising above recent behemoths like Elden Ring Nightreign on the platform’s best sellers list.

Undertale is a cherished indie game thanks to its visuals, soundtrack, and choice-influenced story. However, being worked on even before Undertale came out was Deltarune, a spinoff that takes a lot of the same gameplay formula (and even some of Undertale’s characters) and transplants them into a “parallel” narrative and world.

Fox has been chipping away at Deltarune since 2012, but so far only two episodes have seen the light of day. The developer promised that Chapter 3 and 4 would arrive at the same time – bundled together with 1 and 2 – in the future, and after 13 years of work, that day has finally arrived.

Deltarune’s complete collection of Chapters 1-4 is now available on Steam, and fans of Fox’s work have flocked to it in their droves. At the time of writing, just over 133,000 people are currently playing Deltarune on Steam, and that number could rise by the end of today. Right now, more people are checking out the new chapters than are playing huge hits like Marvel Rivals, Apex Legends, and Helldivers 2.

It’s also shot straight to the top of Steam’s top-sellers charts, sitting above the likes of recent megahit Elden Ring Nightreign and the imminent Dune Awakening.

While Chapters 1 through 4 are available in the new release of Deltarune, Fox has already pledged that a fifth chapter will arrive as a free DLC for anyone that owns the game. If you want to try before you buy, a free demo will let you play the previously released first two chapters. You can grab Deltarune or download the demo right here.
