  • How to Measure Luck vs Skill in Games?

Anyone who has played a wide variety of games knows that some games are almost purely skill (i.e. Chess, Go), while others are 100% luck (i.e. Candyland, War). However, most games are in between.

I would find it helpful as a game buyer if there were an objective measure indicating how much luck is involved in a game, to include as one of several criteria when deciding which kinds of games I’d like to buy and spend time learning. I personally prefer games where luck/probability plays a role, yet deliberate practice increases skill over time (i.e. Bridge). But obviously other people will have different preferences.

I’ve observed many debates about the amount of luck and skill in certain games and I sometimes use information gleaned form these informal debates to help me decide whether to purchase a game. Very few of these debates cite objective measures to indicate how much luck or skill is involved.

Note that in a BGG luck/skill thread I started, one person did cite an attempt to objectively measure whether skill exists in the game Fluxx.

So what measures exist and how useful are they? Or is there some persuasive mathematics to suggest that useful measures (of how much luck is in a game) are not possible?

Gacha hit Solo Leveling: Arise gets the K-Pop tie in treatment but how do you get I-dle’s stars?

Promo image for the I-Dle collab in Solo Leveling: Arise

Whatever your views on the behemoth gacha games such as Honkai Star Rail and Genshin Impact, there are countless others, such as Solo Leveling: Arise, that are worth squillions to their developers.

If the figures are to be believed, Netmarble made over $100 million in the first three months of SLA alone. And that was the middle of last year.

A little over one year on, and Solo Leveling: Arise welcomes K-Pop royalty I-dle to the game in its latest update. The South Korean group, consisting of Soyeon, Miyeon, Minnie, Yuqi, and Shuhua, is responsible for nearly eight million Spotify streams per month, and their debut album sold 83,000 copies within 24 hours. It’s not tough to see why Netmarble wants them involved.

How to get Miyeon and Shuhua in Solo Leveling: Arise

From today, Solo Leveling players can add Miyeon and Shuhua to their roster of playable hunters simply by playing the game during the I-dle event through the special Collaboration Pass. Completing the event story mode will unlock other rewards, including additional copies of both K-Pop stars.

    Other notable new stuff

Also arriving in the update is a new Story Expert mode for those looking for a bigger challenge. Players who complete all chapters in this mode can earn up to 35,000 Essence Stones as a reward. In addition, players can challenge new Encore Mission bosses, Incaro and Helder, who will appear in a single dungeon.

    What is Solo Leveling: Arise

The game version is based on the super-popular webtoon that has been viewed an astonishing 14.8 billion times – yep, that’s nearly twice the population of the planet – so two views each, can you remember when yours were?

The game is free to play, and you can stick to that format if you choose, but most people will purchase in-game currency to customize their character and purchase better equipment, alongside the gacha element of pulling for new weapons and characters.

Is it for you? Well if you are fan of gacha and haven’t checked it out yet and want to get away from the big hitters in the space, you will definitely appreciate what Soloe Leveling: Arise has to offer.

  • How could an online Checkers player use AI to cheat in real-time? [closed]

I’ve been playing Checkers on CardGames.io, and I’ve noticed some players make perfect moves instantly, almost as if they’re using a bot or AI to assist them.
I understand that AI solvers for Checkers (like Chinook or web-based tools) require you to input the current board state before they return the optimal move. But this takes time — so how are these players seemingly:

    • Reading the board state immediately
    • Sending it to a solver
    • And executing the move without any delay

How could a player be getting AI solver moves so quickly?

For example, are they using browser extensions, scripts, or something else to automate the reading of the board and feeding it to an engine? How technically difficult would it be to pull off without the site detecting it?

Collecting an egg in the hatch.

How to claim Roblox Hatch rewards

Once you collect the final egg in an elemental set, you need to head to the hatch point of the matching biome. This triggers an event where the final 11th egg of that series appears before you.

Agree to let it float around and all that’s left is to take it to that biome’s nest to hatch it, revealing the Roblox Hatch reward of that element.

Are there more Roblox Hatch rewards?

Some quests, found on the left side of the hub screen, award Hatch UGC, too. From inviting friends to collecting over 100 eggs, you can earn things like gelato you can equip, and unique head accessories.

We expect a couple more Hatch rewards to surface before the event ends on July 12. Take a look in the telescope behind the Connection portal and you’ll spot a meteor hurtling through the sky.

Expect the Hatch meteor to unlock the head accessory from the Finale quest. It could also have something to do with the ‘Something is Coming’ quests set to kick off on July 4, 2025.

    A concert in roblox.

How to get Eggs in Roblox The Hatch

Each biome within the Roblox the Hatch event hub houses eggs of a specific element.

It’s possible to find all ten eggs of an element in its respective zone if you’re lucky. Once you exhaust the spawns, you’ll have to resort to merging, trading, or searching for a single egg in each of that biome’s mountain of player-made games by walking into its portal.

You can also unlock eggs by clearing quests like discovering the biome’s portal, interacting with its decor, or completing obbies. It sounds easy, but with eggs of various rarities, getting lucky enough to find the lot can take some time. Cooperation is key.

The Hatch hub has daily events, too. These can make hunting for eggs a little easier. For example, the Merge Mania event on July 3 reduced how many duplicates were needed to merge eggs and increased egg spawns across the hub, making it possible to AFK farm eggs in each biome.

If you’re struggling to find a specific egg, it’s worth loading up the Hatch hub the next day to see if a fresh event might work in your favor.

And that’s it for Roblox The Hatch rewards for now. Remember: you have until July 12 to grab the lot. Done and dusted? Find your next obsession with the help of our list of the best free PC games. Like the random egg mechanic? You might enjoy the best gacha games on PC, too.

  • How many cards can Restorative Burst return?

    Restorative Burst says

Return up to two target creature, land, and/or planeswalker cards from your graveyard to your hand. Each player gains 4 life. Exile Restorative Burst.

I’m questioning if that means 2 or 6 possible returns because in my mind if it said

Return target creature, land and planeswalker….

It would definitely be one of all 3. So the addition of "up to 2" and "and/or" to me feels like its the option to return anything from one of one of them which would the the reason for or, to 2 of each of them which would be the reason for and.

Is this right? I feel that’s a lot to pay for only 2 cards.

  • How to program Boggle game [closed]

I’m interested in learning more about programming a variant of Boggle. The objective is to fit as many US state names as possible into a 5 X 5 Boggle grid. It is known, for example that the following 5 x 5 arrangement of letters will yield the list of spelled-out state names (represented below by their shorthand codes and points). According to the Boggle scoring rules, 92 points. No double counting allowed. Is it possible to score higher than 92? How do I write a program to methodically investigate this question?:
    SUTHC
    NORAD
    AILKS
    STONA
    IUMWT
    NC-13, SC-13, ND-11, SD-11, LA-9, AR-8, MT-7, AK-6, KS-6, IA-4, UT-4 for a total of 92 points.

  • How do the Creature-Saga work regarding the attack phase?

If, after the transformation of the Crystal Fragments card, the Summon: Alexander card comes into play, basically the "creature" part of this enchantment-saga-creature it will be able to attack ONLY ONCE.
    In fact:

    • the first turn in which it is in play (nm of lore counters:1)
      Alexander should be affected by summoning weakness;
    • the second turn
      (nm of lore counters: 2)
      is in fact the only one in which Alexander can actually attack;
    • the third turn, since the nm of lore counters has reached the value 3, Alexander will be sacrificed before the attack phase.

Is the analysis just performed and related to this new card correct?
Is there anything else to add?
    Thanks, regards.

  • How would an effect have to be worded to allow merging multiple Mutate piles?

I came across multiple questions about Mutate, and I figured that combining multiple Mutate piles into one single Mutate pile could potentially be quite interesting due to allowing for multiple non-Mutate creatures (and maybe even noncreatures that were creatures at the time of their original Mutate) in the pile. Now, the question is, how would an ability be worded to let that happen?

I’m looking for the wording for one of the following, or both:

    • An effect that’s functionally a "Multi-Mutate N", letting you put a creature with it anywhere on, under or in between N creatures. The creatures can be stacked together in any order, but if any of them are Mutate piles, each pile must remain one continuous block (they can’t be reordered or interleaved with other cards in the pile).
    • An effect that targets 2 Mutate piles and combines them into one pile, with the same ordering restriction. Should only work for Mutate piles – neither non-Mutate creatures nor Mutate creatures should be targetable if they’re not a pile with 2 or more cards.

Other kinds of effects that interact with Mutate piles (adding or removing cards, or working off of the number of cards in them) might be interesting too, but are probably more of a topic for a separate question.

Extremely low. On average, if the Server Luck bonus is at its maximum, you can expect to see a Secret Brainrot every 30-45 minutes.

How can I protect a Secret Brainrot once I get it?

The best way to protect your Secret Brainrot is to monitor your base as often as you can while replenishing your defensive weapons and traps at the same time. Additionally, you can purchase a private server and grind on it alone. This way, you avoid the risk of one of your Secret Brainrots being stolen.

How do mutations influence the Secret Brainrots?

Mutations on Secret Brainrots multiply the amount of cash those Brainrots generate every second (Gold=1.25x, Diamond=1.5x, Bloodrot=2x).
